Who We Are

Formed in 1992, the CPHA represents companies and individuals who provide hospitality services under contract with the California Department of Parks and Recreation. Contract service providers commonly referred to as “concessionaires”, have been an integral part of California State Park System beginning with Big Basin State Park in 1913. Concessionaires provide a wide range of hospitality services aimed at helping visitors to enjoy their park experience.

Today there are over 200 concession operations with the 280 California State Parks. In addition to services to visitors, these operations pay the State more than 20 million dollars in rent and maintenance fees each year.

Who We Serve

We directly serve our members and indirectly all concession operators within California State Parks. We provide an important communication link between concessionaires and the leadership of the Department of Parks and Recreation. We provide training, information, and other services which help our members to provide quality visitor services within the parks.

What We Do

The CPHA serves as an important  link between California State Parks and its contract service providers.  We participate in discussions that may lead to the development of new policies and new laws which can impact contract service providers.  We provide business related training for our members, for State staff and for others involved with the State Park System. We connect contract service providers with  one another for their mutual benefit.
